That is why we carefully select our suppliers and ensure that our steel procurement not only provides a reliable product of the highest quality, but also that we contribute to promoting a more sustainable and responsible steel manufacturing industry.
SAMS members help the customer by:
- Offer products or materials with lower environmental impact.
- Optimize logistics and transportation to reduce emissions.
- Offer alternatives with lower CO2 emissions or improved environmental performance.
- Assist in collecting and reporting certified CO2 data.
- Explore opportunities for more circular material flows and better packaging and waste management.

When the customer requests a greener alternative to the current blast furnace-based steel, it is important to ask the right questions to understand the customer's needs and expectations.
Here is a list of questions and documents that may be relevant to request from the steel mill or Steel Service Center, SSC, to meet the customer's requirements for greener steel.
