About SAMS

SAMS – Swedish Association of Material Sourcing is an interest association for companies active in the supply of materials to the Swedish technology industry. Our focus is to ensure a simple, cost-effective and secure supply of raw materials – a critical success factor for the industry's competitiveness.

SAMS acts as the industry's representative in strategic and legal matters towards authorities and organizations. We offer our members a strong platform to influence the development of the conditions for material supply in Sweden.

  • Every year, SAMS members purchase approximately 600,000 tons of steel, which corresponds to 16 % of Sweden's total tradeable steel.
  • Together, the member companies have a turnover of SEK 127 billion and employs approximately 65,000 people.

Through SAMS, member companies can:

  • A strong network of experienced buyers and material supply specialists within the Swedish technology industry.
  • Opportunity to influence material supply issues at the Swedish and European level.
  • Access to external monitoring such as regulatory monitoring, materials and economic reports
  • Training in relevant areas for material purchasers
  • Invitations to meetings, study visits and seminars, often together with leading raw material suppliers.

SAMS is continuously working to improve the conditions for material supply and thereby strengthen the competitiveness of Swedish industry.

Networks and material groups

SAMS material groups consist of members who are interested and committed to different types of materials. The material groups contribute to SAMS's activities by holding group discussions approximately five times a year where, under the leadership of a group manager, the status and development in the material supply area are discussed. The groups report their findings at member meetings and to the office.

The following material groups are available within SAMS:

  • Rolled products, hot rolled, cold rolled
  • Surface coated rolled products, galv, AZ, ZM
  • Wire
  • Other materials, aluminum, copper, stainless steel
